Difference between a Resume and a Curriculum Vitae

Yesterday, my one of the friend asked me a question.

Question: What is the difference between a Resume and a Curriculum Vitae (CV)?

At that time I really didn’t know exact answer of this question.

My answer was “A resume is an American English term. In UK English “CV” is the norm. I don’t know the any other difference if any.”

I have asked same question to few people but nobody have the exact answer or may be nobody cares because the purpose of both is same.  Now I got the answer this question and sharing with you all because we have to learn at the every stage of life.

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”  By Albert Einstein

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young”. By Henry Ford

Difference between the Resume and CV

A resume is a shorter, briefer summary of your skills and experience.

A CV is a longer, in depth and more detailed report. It includes a summary of your educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details.

In short, a CV gives all the specific details, while a resume summarizes.

You’re supposed to keep a resume to one page, two at the maximum, while there’s no limit on CVs, which are considered a bit thin if they’re not over two pages.
